The interview is presented in the the Pod ”Mondo Merkato” (means Global Market in Esperanto) in episode S2 E2 – The Dark Side of th Gig (listen to us 11.30-26 min. into the pod). In summary ”we are all gig workers, we just don’t know about it yet”… the gig economy is just another label for the existing job market that has become global and digitized with gig platforms and market places to find assignment based work. This relates to everyone – white or blue collar. Also, we talked about the ”staffing board” where I suggest that all big employers should have a board that combines purchasing staff with the recruiters from HR and design a common staffing strategy that includes both hiring and assignment based work. We also touched briefly on PSD2 data, i.e. where you can bring your own financial history along to receive a fair credit based on your actual financial history and enable a fair credit evaluation. To own your own financial data is quite similar på GDPR.
My advice to gig workers: find out what your price or worth is and charge accordingly. Companies are advised to identify and predict competence and resource needs and adjust your organizations and processes and grasp opportunities where specialists can be brought in to enhance and support your business. Listen to our conversation and let us know what you think.
